After the ceremony & the signing, I remember walking down the aisle and a bunch of elderly women applauding for us from the pews. In Italy, as it also is in Greece and I'm sure many other parts of the world, everyone in the town is technically invited to your wedding in the church. There was one of the women who came from the pew to embrace and kiss us with all her force. She was quite off her rocker, bless her. She followed us outside afterwards as well and as Don Carmine was "presenting us" outside for pics, she kept shouting out as us many different forms of "auguri" (congratulations) which kept us laughing.
